SUNROSE ALPACAS is a full time and family run venture. We are Tim and Jodi Dominick and in 1992 we bought a large chunk of land here in Pennsylvania with a mid 1800’s farmhouse on it. We decided to call it our farm…. just for the fun of it.

We raised chickens and had horses and though they were a lot of work, we had fun. Once we went to a llama farm with the idea of raising llamas. We never even got close enough to meet them personally before getting spit on by a couple and decided maybe llamas weren’t going to be our next endeavor. Then we heard about alpacas and went to visit a couple alpaca farms… just for the fun of it. We were hooked instantly. Here was a mild, quiet creature that can be raised on a small patch of land AND doesn’t have to be slaughtered to make for a successful business. They are hardy and very easy to care for. Our neighbors love them because they don’t smell, make noise, or get loose.

We began breeding for strong conformation and fine fiber. Right from the start we purchased & bred to quality alpacas from diverse and elite genetics, bringing in some of the most desired & top producing lines in the Red Ribbon winnerU.S. We then decided to show some of our youngsters… just for the fun of it, and won! Now each year we proudly display our alpacas at shows for judges to rate, consistently winning ribbons in fleece & halter shows. Ribbons won in national shows are the proof in the pudding, so we knew we were making good breeding decisions.

Because we are a small farm, our animals receive a lot of individual attention and enjoy having people join them in their pastures. In an effort to expose as many people as possible to this relaxing and rewarding lifestyle, we encourage farm visits whether or not we have any animals available for sale at the time. We frequently offer affordable starter animals & packages to folks looking to try this wonderfully satisfying venture. When show time arrives, the alpacas just jump in the minivan and away we go! We know each and every animal we have very well. Most have been born right here on our farm. Our herd changes in size each year but our commitment to quality never waivers.

We usually have a good variety of alpacas to choose from, whether you’re looking for pets, fiber animals, or breeding stock. So feel free to call or stop by for a visit… just for the fun of it.
